Halloween 2009

Kendon the Fireman
Kourtney as Sharpay from HSM
Kennedy as a Ladybug!

It was a fun Halloween this year. It did seem that it went on forever. In one week we had 2 dance parties, a preschool party, a family party, and 2 elementary school parties. This was all before the actual day of Halloween on the 31st!! Needless to say, I was ready for it to be over. Here are a few pics of the kids in their costumes.

You did what?

Had to write this down before I forget it. Went to Parent Teacher Conferences for the two girls last week. Kourtney was doing well of course and so was Kennedy until her teacher told me Kennedy doesn't seem to know what a triangle is. I knew this wasn't true because she likes to draw them and can point them out. I went home and asked her about it and her response to me was, "Mom, I know what a triangle is.. I just wanted to trick my teacher!!" So there is Kennedy, keeping her teacher and me on our toes. She is a clown. :)

Happy Birthday Kennedy!!

It was Kennedy's birthday last month and I am finally getting around to writing about it. But first since I am horrible at writing in her journal I thought I would give a quick overview of her birth. Kennedy was born on August 12th, 2004. We went into Cottonwood hospital that morning to start an induction because they were afraid she was going to be a big baby. We got there about 7:00 in the morning and by 2:20 p.m. she was here. She weighed in at only 8 pounds. Sometimes I think she was upset that she had to be forced out a week and half early because she was such a grumpy baby. Grandma Kris and I would always be thinking about new things that would make her happy. The only thing that worked was carrying her in a baby sling. So the whole family, grandparents included ,would take their turn strapping on the pouch and carrying her around. I never thought we would get to her 5th birthday!
I think this photo says it all. "Did I have to come to this place already??" :) Although Kennedy has cried more tears than seems humanly possible I have to give her credit for many things. She is always so willing to help out. If you ask her to get something she will just do it. And Kennedy is by far the funniest person in our family. For one thing, she is obsessed with money. She hoards it, she washes it, she perks up when she hears it drop on the floor. We once gave her money to throw in a fountain and she ran over there, dipped it in the water, and then pulled it out. She realized she just couldn't part with it and so there it went into her pockets all nice and wet. For her 4th birthday party she even had a money themed party.
She just says funny things. For example, we were in church when they were passing the sacrament. They had brought wheat bread, so when Kennedy gets the tray she looks down at it and in her full normal voice says, "MMM...Toasted!!!.
This year she had a "Pinkalicious Party" because she loves that color pink and that book. We had a little party with her friends where everyone wore pink. Then we had a family party where everyone also dressed in pink and we had a pinkalicious dessert buffet. It was a fun day. We love Kennedy. There is just never a dull moment with this girl. :)

Kendon's Preschool!

The time has come for my last child to go to school. It's kind of strange having a few hours to yourself but I think I can get used to it. :) Here is Kendon on his first day of preschool. I was a little nervous about him because he still hates going to nursery, so I didn't know how he would do. But he did great! His teacher is Ms. Kasey. He said she is nice. Hopefully the good attitude will continue. :) We went to Mcdonalds after to celebrate! Way to go Kendon!!

Kindergarten!!

Here is Kennedy on her first day of Kindergarten. She was very excited. Her teacher is Mrs. Foster. Kourtney had her so we know just how great she is. On her first day I parked my car to go pick her up after school and she comes running out and says, "Mom, why didn't you just pick me up at the curb?" So much for thinking they need me. :) We are so proud of her and know that she is going to have such a fun year!!!

Second Grade

Second Grade Already!!

It's school time at the Olsen house already. Kourtney is now in the second grade. Her teacher is Ms. Beckstead. Kourtney wasn't nervous at all. In fact she has been counting down the days until summer break was over and she could return to school and be with her friends. We are so proud of her and excited for the new year ahead.

Our day at the "Beach"

Kendon wanted to go to the beach for a long time now after watching Curious George go to the beach on T.V. So, we went to this beach at Daybreak. It was fun. The kids loved it. Lots of swimming and playing in the sand. We will definately go back. We went with our friends Kayla and Carley. And our cousins Brooklyn and Brenton. It was a great summer day.

Soccer!

Today was the first day of soccer for Kourtney and Kendon. They both were really excited and did very good. Kourtney was too nice. She would wait until everyone had kicked the ball before she would try. (We will have to work on that. ) :) It was really hot so by the time the game was over they were both red-faced and exhausted. Kennedy didn't want to play soccer so we will post pictures of her doing swimming lessons soon.

Starting a Blog

I have been putting this off for a long time now but finally decided to just go ahead and do it. I can't keep up with my kids journals so hopefully this will kind of take over that. We've had a great month so far. The kids are out of school and we celebrated a great 4th of July weekend. We only have a 3 week summer due to year round school so we decided to go on a mini vacation to Park City. We swam, rode our bikes, ate caramel apples, and stayed up late!! The only bad thing was when Kevin wanted to show off to our 3 year old son by doing a wheelie on his bike. Well, let's just say we aren't spring chickens anymore! I came around the corner and there he was flat on his back. Good Times. If only I had the camera!
